ever did b4. I don't like weed killers because they kill my garden. What can I do short of pulling them, placing yard fabric down, and putting mulch over? They should come with a warning...those and freeway daisies (osteospermums). Watch out for those too. Sperm is in their name for a reason. They proliferate like rabbits.
A type of Primrose has taken over my entire yard. I'm weeding 8 times more than I?
I have them all over my yard too and pulling is really the only way to get rid of them even if it is temporary. Fortunately they are shallow rooted and not hard to pull out, but unless you get every one and every bit of root, your not going to get rid of them entirely. I'm sorry, I wish I had better news for you.
I feel your pain.
Good Luck

When do I use the primrose oil?
I was told to use primrose oil to reduce the effect of the premenstrual syndrome on me. My symptons of rough and ugly face, pimples, skin discoloration etc usually happens about a week to my menstruation period. I was told to use among other things, primrose oil to reduce the effect, that is why I want to ask when do I start using the primrose oil. Is it constantly irrespective of the problems or is it when I am about to start noticing the syndrome of my menstruation?

Evening Primrose Oil in capsule supplement form ?
I recently started taking these supplements daily. And i've noticed that a short while after i've swallowed the capsule, my body temperature gets really hot, and stays that way for hours . I'm usually always cold , so the extra warmth doesn't bother me , i was just interested in finding out why it does this , and is it meant to do that ?
Evening Primrose Oil in capsule supplement form ?
Fatty acids help our bodies regulate temperature, but I doubt that is why you feel what you describe. To be honest, I'm not sure.
But why are you taking an omega-6 supplement when the typical diet in an industrial country has too much omega-6 compared to omega-3 fatty acids? Unless there is a specific health reason, I'd recommend you take an omega-3 supplement that has twice as much EPA as DHA. Fish oils are good sources. The EPA/DHA has proven to be beneficial in heart and mental health.

Can a 56 year woman take primrose oil & omega 3 alternately or togather to improve health and delay menopause?
She has her BP (124/80) under control with medication, but feel pain at the kneel joint if she take calcium pill.
Can a 56 year woman take primrose oil %26amp; omega 3 alternately or togather to improve health and delay menopause?
Your best bet is to take a Vitamin D supplement with Calcium and an all natural soy estrogen and black cohosh supplement. You can find both at any local pharmacy. If you are suffering joint pains, you could add in a Glucosamine supplement to help regenerate your cartilage. Be sure to use plenty of grape and promegrante supplements to help flush out your system for Blood pressure problems and arterial plaques.
Reply:Honey nothing you can take will delay menopause, but the ones you mentioned can certainly improve your health if you exercise a lot and eat the right type of goods. Good luck

Does anyone know the recommended daily dose of evening primrose oil capsules?
I have found a lump in my breast and am seeing Dr again to check in another 10 days but thought it might be a good idea to take these in meantime but it says 1-2 a day and i don't know what daily recommended is!!!
Does anyone know the recommended daily dose of evening primrose oil capsules?
The active ingredient of evening primrose in gamolenic acid. Check out Holland and Barrett, they are cheaper than most. Their 1000mg capsules have 90 mgs/ capsule of gamolenic acid, their instruction is up to 3 a day, medically I would say 4 would also be fine.
500 caps is about £30.
I refer ALL lumps for a breast surgeon to check them!!

Are there any disadvantages of taking Evening Primrose Oil?
When are you taking it and for what purpose? I have heard of many pregnant women taking it towards their due date to soften the cervix, and in this case, I would recommend checking w/ your healthcare provider for doseage that's right for you and waiting until the right time to take it. If you are taking during non pregnancy for hormonal health, and following directions, then I am not aware of any side effects.

I hope not I have taken it for years for PMT.

evening primrose oil is a herbal remidy whch works for some people and not for others it could shorten your pregnany and put you into labour but it might not another good herbal remeidy is raseberry leaf tea tablets are the best option ive known quite a few people that swear by them!!
Reply:First, congratulations! In my experience (using evening primrose and other homeopathic aids for birthing 5 of my own kids), the oil may or may not help. I know that isn't really helpful, but remember that as women our bodies were designed to gestate and give birth. When your cervix is ready, it'll efface and dilate. Relax, try not to stress, and some brisk walks might speed things up. And the oil can't really hurt. Good luck.

After the pink evening primrose quits bloooming for the season, the leaves begin to turn red. Cut back?
Yes, about two inches.

You should do most pruning during the fall when the "sap" is low, before it's time for new growth.
Reply:You can, but do not have to. It is pretty hardy, and will take over if you let it. So you can cut it back or let it go to fill in space.

Both myself and my 17month old son have a bad temper, does evening primrose oil help? And if so how do you get a child to swollow a capsual?

Reply:My experience with EPO has been for my hair, skin and nails and not for a bad temper. I have found that, providing you find a good brand that is cold pressed, it is a great product. It made my hair look rich and healthy and stopped my dandruff - something I have had far longer than I can remember and was told that I would never get rid of but now it's gone. I understand that EPO provides the body with the omega-3 essential fatty acid which helps to regulate hormonal imbalances in the body. I am sure temper can be considered a result of a hormonal imbalance (perhaps even attributed to a certain food or foods or a combination thereof that both you and your son eat). So, I would definitely give it a try. Just don't expect overnight results though because you have not been able to determine the root cause of the temper, even though you may be taking steps to deal with its symptom. For me, my results were evident within a month, but you know what they say "results may vary" because we all know "no two people are alike"!
And I would agree with one of the other answers given that you should incorporate it into your sons food - just before eating not while cooking. I do hope this helps.

Reply:Yes.
BUT, EPO will only work on your temper if it is hormone related - it contains Gamma Linoleic Acid which helps to regulate hormones and keep skin healthy. I would certainly avoid giving it to a child as young as 17 months and wouldn't recommend it to anyone whose temper isn't PMT or suchlike.
However, with that caveat, it really does work. I went, while taking it, in a matter of days, from being a psychotic monster to feeling a whole lot calmer and being much more chilled out. It also helps with other associated PMT problems like mastalgia etc.
However, they don't warn you that one of the side effects is mild depression, so be wary - I made the choice that miserable me was better than psychotic me, but then again it works differently on everyone!
What you might also like to try, which I think in yours and your son's case would be more effective would be not only the Bach flower remedies, but also the Jan de Vries flower essences, which I found to be more effective than I'd hoped.
Good luck!

The capsules have been suggested for almost every ailment known to mankind! Extensive studies have shown them to produce no benefit, with the possible exception that they may have a marginal effect on cyclic mastalgia. (Period breast pain). I suggest you have a chat with your GP or health visitor.

Why should i stop taking evening primrose when I ovulate?
I have deen taking evening primrose tablets (as I am TTC) and have only just discovered that I should actually stop taking them when I ovulate.
Could somebody please explian why?
Many Thanks
Why should i stop taking evening primrose when I ovulate?
Evening primrose oil contains estrogen-boosting compounds. Your cycle is dominated by estrogen prior to ovulation and then by progesterone following ovulation. EPO can disrupt that balance shift in hormones. Progesterone is important for implantation and early retention of a pregnancy, so it's essential that the levels are normal.

When to start taking evening primrose oil?
i am 36 weeks right now. when should i start using the primrose oil and how?
thank you!
When to start taking evening primrose oil?
Wait another week, maybe two. That way if it does work quickly for you, you won't end up with a preemie. My midwife told me it was okay when I was almost 38 weeks. It comes in capsules; the ones I had were in gel-caps. You take them orally, just swallowing like any other pill. The dosage on the bottle is probably okay for you. Best wishes! (It didn't work for me, btw... good luck anyway! :) )
Reply:when i was pregnant i was told not to use it all it will cause is diarrhea dont take anything that is supposed to bring on labor they dont work and are dangerous. ask your doctor.
you are still preterm for another 3 weeks. dont do anything to harm your child. let labor come when your body is ready. it will be easier on you. and you may not need a c- section

It help prevent hardening of the arteries, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, inflammation, enhances the release of sex hormones including estrogen and testerone. Evening Primrose also aids in lowering cholesterol and used in the treatment of cirrhosis of the liver.

I descovered Evening Primrose recently, and was amazed when I started researching it's effects. It's most well-known for balencing out hormones to prevent PMS, particularly the emotional and psychological symptoms, as well as reducing the painful owyness of breast tenderness. However, in research it has also been shown to help reduce various skin conditions including exzema (sorry about the spelling) and acne. It also helps to strengthen nails and has shown to be of benefit in helping alcoholics when going through rehabilitation programmes. When I started reading about it I was absolutely astonished - it seems to be a bit of a wonder-plant!
I might not be putting this in the best way, so here is some info copied from online sources, which is less personal than the stuff i've written about but which is more reliable for pure fact:
"Evening Primrose Oil Benefits and Side Effects
Evening primrose is a wildflower that grows throughout North America, Europe and some parts of Asia. The seeds of this plant, whose flowers open in the evening, contain oil that is rich in essential fatty acids and is touted among nutritionists for its healing powers.
Evening primrose oil is one of the most concentrated sources of gamma-linoleic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid with anti-inflammatory properties. The body converts the GLA in evening primrose oil into prostaglandins, substances that function like hormones and help to regulate body processes. Cell membranes depend on GLA.
Evening primrose oil is used for a variety of conditions, including skin problems, premenstrual symptoms and inflammation. Many women that suffer from premenstrual syndrome have low levels of GLA, which is why evening primrose oil supplements may help to alleviate symptoms of the condition.
Evening primrose oil is often recommended to reduce breast tenderness and pain caused by fibrocystic breasts, and it can also help to ease menstrual cramps, endometriosis and mood swings related to the menstrual cycle. As an anti-inflammatory agent, evening primrose oil is also effective in treating flare-ups of irritable bowel syndrome, and studies show that it may be useful in treating rheumatoid arthritis pain as well.
The GLA in evening primrose oil may also help to prevent and even repair nerve damage caused by diabetes. At least one study has shown that symptoms like tingling, numbness and loss of sensation associated with diabetic neuropathy improved when patients took supplements of evening primrose oil. In addition, inflammation in kidneys, joints and skin associated with lupus may improve with the use of evening primrose oil.
Further, damage caused by inflammation in people multiple sclerosis, as well as other inflammatory processes may be reduced or prevented with evening primrose oil supplements. Evening primrose oil is also thought to be capable of encouraging transmission of nerve impulses, making it of possible use in treating memory problems associated with Alzheimer’s disease. It can also help compensate for deficiencies in GLA associated with aging.
One of the most proven benefits of evening primrose oil appears to be its ability to treat dry, scaly, or itchy skin conditions, such as rosacea, acne and atopic dermatitis. It appears that the prostaglandins produced by evening primrose oil contract blood vessels that become inflamed with these skin conditions. Evening primrose oil may also help prevent pores from becoming clogged, and it may reduce reliance on corticosteroids by patients with certain skin conditions as well.
Evening primrose oil is available in capsules and in liquid form. The usual dosage is about three grams per day for most conditions. Side effects are uncommon but may include bloating and abdominal discomfort in a small percentage of people.
To minimize any unpleasant side effects from the use of evening primrose oil capsules, it is best to take them with food. This will also help to ensure adequate absorption of GLA. Other nutrients that are important for the body to utilize the GLA in evening primrose oil are zinc, vitamin C, B vitamins and magnesium. When evening primrose oil is used to treat skin conditions, it may take several months to notice positive effects."

How many calories are in evening primrose oil?
Like in a 1000 mg capsule? If anyone knows what the calories or fat grams are it would be helpful to know.
I know the oil is good for you if you're female and I usually take around 3000 mg a day in capsule form. and I don't intend to stop because it's good for PMT. But I am considering going on a diet and I can't help wondering about it!
How many calories are in evening primrose oil?
I'm pretty sure there are only a few calories per capsule (5-10). I used to take EPO because it's supposed to help regulate periods and with dry skin (though it did nothing for my skin). You can do a search for evening primrose oil and find the nutritional info there, though I'm sure there aren't many calories and no fat grams in EPO capsules. It's actually supposed to help with metabolism, so it will prolly help you in your diet which will make up for the calories. HTH.
Can I take evening primrose capsules and Starflower capsules together?
I've been suffering really bad with my PMT lately and it's starting to affect me worse every month. Worst is the mood swings and irratability. And I get soo emotional and tearful. I have to come off the pill for health reasons and am hoping this will help with my PMT. But also heard the above 2 supplements were good for PMT. But can I take them together? And what's the best dose? Thanks. And any other advice from other PMT sufferers - it's even starting to affect my relationship and I'm worried my boyfriend is pulling his hair out! Thanks,
Can I take evening primrose capsules and Starflower capsules together?
actually you can get a combination of both in a single capsule ,my wife takes them ,just bought some from tescos the other day
Reply:What else are you taking? It's a legitimate question, simply because anything and everything can interact with anything and everything.
The good news is that there are people who spend a lot of time in school learning about such things - pharmacists. Ask yours.
Reply:yes you can take them both together i did for the same reasons and it really helped . I got the tablets called well woman from a supermarket which as both ingredients in them they do work good luck
Reply:Hi there, I used to suffer from terrible pmt and cramps, a friend of mine recommended I try some stuff called tang kuei plus. It’s a crazy name but it sure works. It eased just about all my symptoms and anxiety that I used to get, plus which it meant I could get some decent sleep aswell. You get 60 tablets for $12.50 and there are clear directions to take that come with it. There are no silly side effects either which was such a relief.
The only place I know where to get it (its where I get mine) is www.myhealthabc.com
The website is mostly about losing weight and sports nutrition but once you put in your details you can go through and purchase what you want. You get a username and password so can re-order whenever you want. There is a link in there to the owners email so if you don’t want them to call you just drop them an email and say you just want to buy the products and they will oblige. This stuff really works, my two sisters now use it aswell, much to the relief of their husbands. I also use their berry complex as I used to get a lot of urinary tract infections, fingers crossed since using it (over a year now) I have only ever had one slight infection, which is better than getting them every few weeks as I did previously.
Hope this helps, try it you wont be dissapointed.

How often should I take Evening Primrose Oil?
I just recently bought Evening Primrose Oil to help soften my cervix and have read numerous things about how to take them. I've read after 38 weeks you should take 3-4 a day, and I've also heard to insert the capsule into the vagina as well. So should I orally take 3-4 plus insert one, or just one or the other. Thanks, I'll be asking my doctor on Friday if the baby doesn't come before then.
P.s. I'll be 39 weeks Saturday
How often should I take Evening Primrose Oil?
You should check with your doctor before using Evening Primrose Oil. There hasn't been sufficient study of EPO during pregnancy and breastfeeding to determine its safety and effectiveness.

How does evening primrose oil help with labor in the last months?
Evening Primrose Oil and Red Raspberry Leaf Tea
Neither will actually induce labor. While some lay midwives will argue that statement about the Evening Primrose, which is the reason it is not recommended until 36 weeks or "full term", almost all sources with experience agree that it does nothing that the body was not ready to do on its own. I will repeat this at the end of this section, to make sure you understand this, as there is a lot of confusion and misconception surrounding these two substances.
Evening primrose oil is an excellent source of prostaglandins, which we already determined readies your cervix for labor. It can be taken orally as soon as 34 weeks, and can be applied directly to the cervix at full term (36 weeks). The general recommendation is two 500mg
capsules per day until week 38, at which time you increase to 3-4 per day. The entire capsule can be inserted vaginally (inserted just before bed, it will dissolve before the first time you wake to use the bathroom), or you can use the oil on your fingers for your perineal massage, then also rub on your cervix (assuming you can reach it). Applying directly to the cervix is optimal, but the beneficial ingredients are absorbed through the external skin or the stomach also.
Red raspberry leaf tea is a uterine tonic used by Native Americans for thousands of years. It tones your uterus by helping to "focus" your Braxton Hicks contractions. Think of its job as helping your uterus do more effective exercising while you are pregnant. It does not "cause" contractions and can be safely used throughout pregnancy. It is contraindicated for those having complications "just in case", however, by most doctors who do not understand its use. Many women safely use it from the moment they learn they are pregnant at six weeks until months after delivery. (It helps to tone the uterus after delivery as well, shrinking it back to size more quickly and reducing bleeding.)
Again, neither of these actually causes labor to start!

Has anyone used evening primrose oil after they have started to dilate but?
obviously before thier water broke. I am 38 weeks 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. My doc is talking induction so I was wondering who here have used evening primrose oil and had success with it
Thanks
Has anyone used evening primrose oil after they have started to dilate but?
I have never used it so I probably shouldn't be answering this one , but I wanted to warn you . My midwife told me that Evening Primrose CAN possibly cause internal tearing of the cervix unless you are a first time mother. That may be something you would want to check into. Congratulations on your upcoming birth experience!
Thanks

Did anyone use evening primrose oil and did it work for you?
did you take it orally or vaginally, and does it cause contractions or just soften the cervix? Thank you.
Did anyone use evening primrose oil and did it work for you?
I'm taking it orally currently cuz I'm only 35 weeks along, bt I plan to use it vaginally at 38 weeks. I haven't noticed anything except it gives me alot of pressure in my sinus area. It does not cause contractions, it contains prostaglandins which soften the cervix. Good luck!

Does taking evening primrose oil and robitussin interacts with the effectivity of follistim injectibles?
hi..i just want to know if taking this EPO and Robitussin affects or counteract the effectivity of follistim injectibles ( an injectible fertility med)....I read that EPO and robistussin help to improve EWCM to those women who are ttc and have dryness during baby dancing and to those women who poorly make EWCM-%26gt; this helps in the aid of sperm to swim towards the cervix..thanks!
Does taking evening primrose oil and robitussin interacts with the effectivity of follistim injectibles?
Hello,
I used robitusson while I was on Repronex (an injectible med as well). If you choose to use Robitussin, make sure you use the one with no letter after it. The main active ingredient needs to be guaifenesin.
I used it starting CD5, 2 teaspoons a day, until start of period. I produced plenty of EWCM while using it.
Good luck!
Reply:I don't know about these meds or any contraindications with the shot you're having, but I do know that keeping really well hydrated can naturally increase your CM.
Isotonic (sports) drinks are especially good at this (and you can guarantee that Gatorade won't affect your shots!!!)
Or you could try PreSeed.
Reply:I don't know too much about fertility drugs, but i am aware that Evening primrose Oil prepares the cervix for *labor* and is associated with inducing labor, and is thought to contain a substance that acts as a precursor to prostaglandis.
...Might not help you conceive....

Can someone tell me about evening primrose oil as means of induction?
Has anyone used it personally or know someone who has? If so, did it speed up labor? What dosage? Serious answers
only please. I am at my wits end with being pregnant. I have gained 55 lbs and hurt everywhere. I am full term to by the way. Any help would be great, thanks
Can someone tell me about evening primrose oil as means of induction?
I just started to take it 2 days ago so i can't tell you if it works yet.
Evening Primrose Oil acts as a prostaglandin, which ripens or softens the cervix. It's also useful for softening scar tissue from abortions or IUD damage. This will soften/ripen the cervical tissues and increase the flexibility of the pelvic ligaments. This will help the baby to deeply engage in the pelvis. This early application of the baby's head will assist with dilation and should result in a relatively easy birth, even after multiple C-sections for "stalled" labor. Evening Primrose Oil may be helpful for women with borderline pelvises as well. The utilization of Evening Primrose Oil seems to enhance the complex set of biochemical messages that initiate labor.
You can take evening primrose oil, orally, in the last four weeks of your pregnancy. You should take three evening primrose oil capsules daily for the first week (36th week of gestation) and then one to two capsules a day for the last three weeks of pregnancy.
Buy it at drugstores. About 1500mg a day either ingested orally or inserted vaginally (lay down for a while after inserting). Oral is thought to be more effective.
Reply:I know how you feel, i dont think there's a women out there that isn't tired at the end. I took acupunture at the end and that was on a wed and i had him friday afternoon, it brings the labour on easy as apposed to them medically inducing where there could be some side effects from drugs. And acupunture does not hurt the needles are so small you can't even feel them. they relax you for a total of 20 mins with the needles in and that's it, has a 95% rate of working, good luck.

I was told just to follow what was on the bottle, so 2tabs twice a day. As I now am having a c-section I have droped that down to once a day. I am keeping on using it as I have a BAD PMS problem and I don't wanna put my man and new baby through that =)

Has anyone ever taken Blue and Black Cohosh with Pennyroyale, Evening Primrose Oil to induce or speed up labor
has any one used these herbs or knew someone who has, to induce or speed up their labor?? if so did it work for you and what were your results, if any?

I took the blue/black cohosh with my last pregnancy, I didn't notice that it did anything. I still ended up being induced 2 weeks late.
This pregnancy I have been inserting the Primrose Oil vaginally and can definetly see the changes, my cervix is softening and effacing.
Reply:Hi, I have never taken it, but from personal exp. I have found that the best thing to get labor going, and speed it up is yes you guessed it the thing that got you in this situation to start with! SEX, also nipple stimulation and walking!
Good luck I am sending you labor thoughts!

When can i start usinf primrose oil for induction of labor?
I dont know if primrose oil is used as a "induction" med or whatever.. but dont be impatient. You wont be pregnant forever. Most "home remedies" are worse for you than better..
BUT if you are dead set on using something it would be better to wait until you are full term, so at least 37-38weeks preferably after 40 though!
When can i start usinf primrose oil for induction of labor?
I wouldn't try and induce labor.I did that with my 3rd pregnancy and it got me no where.
Reply:Normally, stimulants which can bring on a labor can start be to be used after the 37th week, or as near to the due date.If you are overdue, you can start now.

Why is every second person on here trying to kick start their labour before their body and baby are ready? Have some patience, please!!

Reply:It is just an herbal supplement. It's almost like taking vitamin E. It doesn't work miracles. It helps soften the placenta, but it won't make you go into labor if your body isn't ready. I started to take it three to five times a day two weeks before my due date and ended up being induced two weeks after my due date, go figure. (I just tried to find research about dangerous side effects and I wasn't able to find anything except research on mixing it with other medications.) If anyone knows of any sites discussing health risks with it I would be interested to read it.
Reply:primrose is a pretty dangerous herb to use it damages your body and brain sometimes longterm, i could only imagine what it would do to a little baby. if you have to induce use a different herb. or just have your doc induce you.

Reply:I don't know about that combination but there is a product called NIOXIN sold at beauty supply stores and salons that helps promote hair growth in people with thinning hair....
http://www.nioxin.com/
AND it has been proven to work well.
If you are talking about growing the length out, I believe you should eat more healthy foods and proteins. But don't cut out fat because that helps your hair have shine. I don't know that there is any proven product out there that promotes faster growth in the length.
Reply:A good nutritional meal plan goes a lot further towards hair growth than many people think. If you can stop eating junk food, you are winning the battle, by far.
Educate yourself on this subject.
People who push medications and false promises are depending on you to not educate yourself. That way, they can sell you anything they want and you'll believe it.
By the way, I'm NOT saying that grapeseed and primrose oils are useless. They are not useless, but hair is not a reason to start taking them. Menopause and PMS are.

Does evening primrose oil really help with inducing labor?
I heard this works but Im not sure how it works, or the amount I should take.
Does evening primrose oil really help with inducing labor?
Evening primrose oil (EPO) does NOT induce labor. It ripens your cervix.
Wash your hands and trim your nails well. Take 2 capsules right before bed and insert them up near your cervix. Some people put the whole thing in and others prick a hole in the capsules and just squeeze the oil out and rub it into their cervix.
Reply:I know that raspberry leaf tea is good if you are actually due. I used it for my second child and it also helps with bruising and bleeding post partum. It tastes pretty bland but is ok with sweetner or honey.Whatever you do don't take castor oil to start labour as it will make you really sick. All the best.
Reply:I know this might sound retarded, but I was having problems getting my labor regulated, and the nurse told me to massage my nipples.. It worked.. somehow it started the contractions more
Reply:i've never heard of evening primrose oil.....but i have heard that if you drink Castor Oil that it will induce you. True Story - one of my friends drank a whole bottle, went out and mowed her lawn and cleaned her house (just busy work) and later that evening, her water broke. good luck

I've just started taking Evening Primrose Oil, how long will it take before I notice any restults?
I am taking it to help balance my hormones and get my libido back. I had 2 babies in 2 years and I think that has wreaked havoc on my hormones!
I've just started taking Evening Primrose Oil, how long will it take before I notice any restults?
I haven't heard of this. I have been in the no sex drive zone many times in my life and couldn't really find that female viagra I was in search for. It wasn't until I found Hersolution that I saved on at herenhancement.com - It has been really great and continues in being a great addition to the bed room. It took my zero sex drive and boosted it tremendously. Not to mention the orgasms are that much better and intense
Reply:I saw your question here and wanted to do my best to respond. First, have you had your thyroid checked? Are you on thyroid meds? I ask because many times a woman who has libido issues, feels tired, run down, etc., along with issues of weight gain (don't know if that's an issue for you or not), and a variety of other issues, may actually be experiencing thyroid issues. Your thyroid and your female organ function are connected. There is another reason I am asking you this.
Any woman with thyroid issues or who has taken or is currently taking thyroid medication, should not be using Evening Primrose Oil. The reason is that seizures may occur, when the two of these things are combined. Evening Primrose Oil has been reported to help some women but the majority of tests have demonstrated that it doesn't really have a great effect on women with hormonal issues. It is great for eczema though.
I'm going to give you a link to some info from the Mayo Clinic, on Evening Primrose Oil. The Mayo Clinic has conducted extensive tests on just about any medication, herbal, or otherwise, you could think of taking. I always turn to them for information on medicine, medical treatments, and diseases, that I want more information on.
If you do experience any results from Evening Primrose Oil, I would be interested in hearing about it, and I'd be very happy for you as well. Typically though, the tests don't show a lot of support for use of EPO in cases related to hormonal issues. I do recommend it for eczema though, as I said. It's wonderful for just about any skin problem imho.

How many "Evening Primrose Oil" tablets Should I take?
I have heard this helps improve CM. I have bought some but how many tablets should I take a day?
Also has these worked for anyone?
Thanks in advance.
How many "Evening Primrose Oil" tablets Should I take?
Evening Primrose Oil: 1,500 to 3000mg per day should be taken from Cycle Day 1 to Ovulation. This is because Evening Primrose Oil or EPO can cause uterine contractions in pregnancy. So do not take it past ovulation.
Look at the label on the bottle to see what it says the serving size or dose is. My EPO says a serving is 2 soft gels to obtain the amount of ingedients listed on the bottle. So I take two a day.
I used EPO last month for the first time and I definitely had an increase of watery cm.
Medication or vitamins or supplements that are suppose to be taken orally should never be used a different way. Do not listen to the poster who says she is using it by putting it into her vagina.
Reply:hiya well i take 2 a day and a couple of times i have inserted them vaginaly at night,i have been taking them a couple of weeks i am 38 weeks but a week after i started taking them my baby engaged from no signs of engaging and i think that was down to taking them i have also been experiencing random contractions and period type pains not sure whether its down to taking these but i am going to ask my midwife at my appt wed! x

Can I take Borage Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Black Cohosh all at the same time?
I want to know if it is okay to take all of these together or if they are counter productive, or if I could /should just take a couple of them? I'm trying to take stuff to improve my system as well as counter the effects of peri-menopause without taking hormone replacement drugs.

Can evening primrose oil cause a miscarriage?
I have been taking it and wonder if it could have caused a m/c as my cycle is usually very regular and came 4 days early this month with bad cramping and heavy bleeding with clots. My bf and I are TTC and thought this was the month, until this happened. Any research supporting this theory? Is it just a myth?
Can evening primrose oil cause a miscarriage?
I am not sure if it has caused you to have a miscarriage but what i do know is that when i was pregnant my gynea told me to stay away from it as well as any other oils as they are absorbed into your blood and in doing so into babies blood as well.
I think that you should go to the doctor just to have yourself checked out.
I hope that this helps a bit and best of luck for the future. I am sure that your little one will be on the way soon.
Reply:of course not

Is evening primrose oil bad to take while tryint to conceive?
I have heard that taking evening primrose oil is bad to use while trying to conceive. IS this true??
These are the pills that I am taking
B6 vitamins
Prenatal vitamins
Green tea capsules
I am also using mucinex to help make the cervical fluid more abundant I am taking that twice a week because one is enough for a short period of time so I don't have to take that everyday. Also I have preseed but have not used that yet because the mucinex is working wonderfully. I am also using the instead cups.
Out of everything that I stated how does it sound that I am doing in means of trying to go the safest route in trying to conceive.

Where can I buy evening primrose pills to induce labor?
I am 37 weeks pregnant and I want to try the home remedies to try to make labor start. I heard this works where do they sell it?
Where can I buy evening primrose pills to induce labor?
i would guess at walgreens, super d, or even a health food store, a local drugstore, or ?walmart?
Reply:I just did my first pelvic exam at 37 1/2 weeks, my dr. recommended that I take the primrose to help my cervix prepare (I'm still raised and hard). She told me health food stores carry them. Hopefully it will work out for both of us. Good luck. Report It
Reply:Get on the site mayoclinic.com or google it remember your body but other's opinion.
Reply:I have never heard of this, PLEASE don't try this. It might hurt you or the baby. I am a nurse!
Reply:evening primrose oil can be found at the drug store or at a health food store. Also, you may want to try taking a calcium tablet every day, this is supposed to reduce labor pains. Also, Begin to drink Red Rasberry leaf tea, as this will strengthen the uterine wall Hope everything goes well.
Reply:omg, you only have a few more weeks left...please leave that baby alone...if you want to be induced, talk to your dr...tell him that you're very uncomfortable...he'll do it the right way...
Reply:Why would you want to induce labor? your child deserves this last 3 weeks to grow and mature fully.unless your doctor wants to induce you, I'd just wait until your baby comes on his/her own.

Taking multivitamins and evening primrose oil, is it okay if i'm on the birth control pill?
And if i stop taking them for a day and then continue, is there any imblance in my system? Thanks for help.
Taking multivitamins and evening primrose oil, is it okay if i'm on the birth control pill?
Yes this should cause you no problems at all
Reply:When you say "If I stop taking them", are you talking about the birth control pill, or the vitamins and the oil? All of them are most effective if you take them daily - especially the birth control pill - but missing one day is usually not going to severely lower the effectiveness, although it may be slightly lower. It depends on what pill you're taking, too. I used to set an alarm to remind me to take my pill at the same time every day, and I always carried water with me so I could take it anywhere.

When can i start inserting Evening primrose oil?
I am 35 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby, i brought the capsules today and would like to know when did everybody who used these start inserting them? I am not trying to induce myself i know that these will not do that as i used them for 38 weeks with my last pregnancy, just hoped to start earlier this time to help cervix soften etc
When can i start inserting Evening primrose oil?
I think it would be ok to start using them now. Like you said it doesn't start labor just softens cervix to prepare for labor.
Reply:Full term is considered 37 weeks so you may want to play it safe and wait until then. My personal experience with EPO was with my first child at 37 weeks I inserted one tablet into my vagina after attempting to have sex with my husband although he did not get to ejaculate in me because (his fear of hurting the baby )so we did not finish although some pre-ejaculation may have gotten in.... 5 hours later I awoke from a painful contraction and my water broke as i got up to use the bathroom. I am currently 36/4 wks and as soon as I turn 37 weeks will reattempt to use EPO since my MW says my cervix is really closed and posterior . My husband has gotten over the fear of having sex with me being so pregnant so it will be a double whammy to get things going. Best of luck to everyone with their labor...........
Reply:Not until week 37!
Then you can insert up to 5 capsules at nite, be sure to wear a pad as they can get quite messy.

Any ladies ever use Evening Primrose for acne?
I have been taking two capsules (1000 mg capsules) every evening for a month and have seen nooooo difference. I have been on the pill for ten years, got off and am trying to regulate my hormones naturally (adult acne, moodiness etc). I see nothing changing. Any one have any luck with Evening primose for these issues?
Any ladies ever use Evening Primrose for acne?
I do recommend it for acne. It stopped my acne. It took quite a few months. I take the seven seas brand they recommend you take 2000mg for the first two months and then reduce it. There are people who take as much as 3000mg or maybe you just need to give it more time.
Reply:I have had good results with evening primrose for psoriasis in the past. For balancing hormones I would prefer Don Quai.
Reply:I have used Evening primrose for my excema and dry skin and it works wonders. I really wouldn't recommend it for acne prone skin though, because it makes your skin oilier.

What is evening primrose oil good for?
can somebody tell me the benefits of it.
And is it true that is good for treating acne?
What is evening primrose oil good for?
Evening primrose oil is good for nourishing the skin from the inside out, when taken as a supplement as found in the vitamin section. It helps skin heal and helps prevent dryness.
I have not found any research on the results on those with acne.
Good luck!

Are there any side effects to taking evening primrose oil whilst i have an IUD fitted?
Just had a copper IUD fitted and my hormones are all over the show. I was wondering if there were any side effects which would effect the contraceptive.
Are there any side effects to taking evening primrose oil whilst i have an IUD fitted?
Is it a standard copper IUCD or one of the new ones which secretes a synthetic hormone ("Mirena")?
There can always be adverse reactions and drug reactions, especially if 2 drugs share the same enzymes for breakdown. The exact mechanism of action of a standard copper IUCD is still not properly understood, there are only theories, so I wouldn't rule anything out. Both products can have adverse reactions on their own.
However, I'd imagine the likelihood of an adverse reaction resulting from the combination is low enough for you to go ahead with both "treatments".
Reply:No, don't worry about it
Reply:Evening Primrose is pretty harmless though not very effective, it will however cause no issues if taken while having your coil fitted.
Reply:Absolutely no problem with taking evening primrose oil whether you have a copper coil or a Marina. I t will take a couple of weeks for your coil to bed in then you should be okay. Remember to go for check after coil been in for 6 weeks

Why would a person with intellectual disability and the start of dementia take primrose oil caps?
Here is a site that explains what vitiamins to take to help slow the start of dementia.
http://www.modern-psychiatry.com/vitamin...
This site give help for Dementia and Alzheimer's
http://www.yourmemorymatters.com/index.p...
I looked into many health and vitiamin sites but primrose oil was never mention a help for either dementia or alzheimer. One site did say that it would help in female type problems.
You could go to your local vitiamin store and ask about what to take. Though my mom order her vitiamins from the internet or catalog because they are so much cheaper.

Is it safe to take evening primrose vitimins when preg?
I think its fine, i take them, it would also be good in the long term for your cervix when you are due. 500mg is the usual amount and is perfectly safe :)
Reply:It is perfectly safe to take evening primrose whilst pregnant, In fact a lot of prenatal vitamins have a reasonable dosage of evening primrose in them. Mine do and my doctor recommended the prenatal pills i am taking. Im not sure about the dosage for a complete primrose tablet, best to ask your GP/Midwife.

Is it safe to take Evening Primrose Oil 34 weeks into second pregnancy?
They say with your second pregnancy you progress much faster than first time mothers. If I take Evening Primrose at 34 weeks, what can I expect. I know it only thins your cervix, but that would start the process of labor, right? I just don't want to risk having a baby at 35 weeks. Others say the oil makes it easier for labor and delivery when the time comes. Help!!
Is it safe to take Evening Primrose Oil 34 weeks into second pregnancy?
Evening Primrose Oil an
Wont actually induce labor. While some lay midwives will argue that statement about the Evening Primrose, which is the reason it is not recommended until 36 weeks or "full term", almost all sources with experience agree that it does nothing that the body was not ready to do on its own.
Again, it doesnt causes labor to start
Reply:I wouldn't mess with herbal remedies. Just do what your ob tells you to do. That is the safest route.
Reply:the say that it is supposed to induce labor, but i don't think it really helps. most of it is just old wives tales. however, just in case, i wouldn't try because they will stop your labor at 34 weeks and it will all be for nothing.
Reply:Please do not start taking EPO until you are term -38 weeks.
