Feedback on Vitex, red rasberry leaf tea and primrose for fertility?

I was doing some research on natural fertility herbs and those are three of the more popular choices. I would love to hear from anyone who has tried these sucessfully or unsucessfully.

Feedback on Vitex, red rasberry leaf tea and primrose for fertility?
I used Vitex and I drank raspberry tea when I was trying to conceive. That, along with Zinc, a pre-natal vitamin and progesterone cream, helped me get pregnant with 2-3 months after years of having very irregular cycles.

As for evening primrose, I chose not to take that. Honestly I can't remember why I chose not to, but it seems like there was too much conflicting opinion out there about its benefits. I also did not take Dong Quai, although I made a really disgusting tea out of it once just to try it!

I am 26 weeks pregnant now and still drinking raspberry tea, but I'm not taking herbs of course.

Of all the research I have done, it seems to me that the ideal way to conceive is to get your diet under control as much as possible. Eat very little processed sugar. Avoid salt. As much as you can, eat fresh fruits, vegetables, and really healthy grains. Basically, if it tastes good to you, spit it out because it probably isn't helping you! :) But really, I read stories of women trying to conceive for years unsuccessfully. Then, with 20 pounds of weight loss they got pregnant. So, diet is a big key.

Vitex is pretty safe, and progesterone cream is crucial if you have really irregular cycles or a known hormone imbalance. You can read What Your Doctor Won't Tell You About Pre-Menopause by Dr. Lee to learn more about it.

Progesterone is called the "pregnancy hormone" because it sustains the baby in utero. I used it as a cream right after ovulation. I would take a pregnancy test a day before my period was due. When it was negative, I quit using the cream. I think it was the third cycle that the test came back positive, so I kept using the cream after that up until about 16 weeks. Supposedly the reason why so many miscarriages happen in the first trimester is because of progesterone deficiency. Then, after the first trimester, the placenta (I think) takes over making it, so you no longer need to supplement it.

Anywho, that's my two cents. Best of luck. :)
Reply:I have never used those but I do use Ovulex and it is wonderful. I don't know if I got pregnant this month but I do know it made me ovulate 5 days sooner than I normally do and know this because I chart and use the clear blue fertility monitor. Hope this helps!
Reply:I am using vitex and red raspberry leaf now for fertility. The problem is that they are very gentle and slow working. Vitex can take up to six month depending on the issue. If you are trying to balance hormones and are willing to wait then it is a good option. Unfortunately, I can not attest to the success yet.
