Has anyone tried evening primrose oil and were 36 weeks pregnant and went into labor soon after?

I tried tincture of echinicea (sp?) on a tampon and wore that for 15 minutes at a time twice a day. Helps thin cervix. I was already dilated one centimeter and 3 days later I went into labor. May have been coincedence. Castor oil didn't work for me. Walking and rocking in a rocking chair helped my contractions along with my daughter (2nd pregnancy). I won't tell you to be patient and wait because I know how it is to be sick of being pregnant.

I have not done that. I have heard of castor oil (might have spelled that wrong) and OJ and then labor :) (tastes REALLY NASTY)
Reply:evening primrose is highly unlikely to send you into labour - it 'ripens' the cervix - making it softer and more ready, but doesnt start contractions.

Why do you want to go into labour now? It may not be safe for your baby. If you are even a little bit wrong with the dates the baby may have problems with breathing or feeding when it is born. Babies are meant to be born after 37 weeks - and the nearer to 40 weeks the better. It can be really hard in late pregnancy, maybe you coul find a way to make these last few weeks a little easier or fun, and wait for our baby to come when it is ready? Good luck whatever you do.
Reply:As much as you probably want the baby to just be here already, I really hope you won't try to encourage labor before it is time. Your baby needs every extra day to FULLY grow and develop right now. Even 2 or 3 weeks in utero makes a HUGE difference.
