Can evening primrose oil help a underweight person w/ irregular period get a more regular period?
i'm pretty underweight, and i've been on birth control for 3 months. my doctor said i can go off the pills anytime i want, but i'm wondering, can taking evening primrose oil regulate my period? Do they help you produce more estrogen, or whatever hormones i need for a regular period? thanks!
Can evening primrose oil help a underweight person w/ irregular period get a more regular period?
It definitely *can* help, but it depends on the reason for the irregular cycle in the first place. If you're underweight, that could be the reason in itself (although so many people have irregular periods now that it could be only one factor among many). Try to get your weight up a bit -- focus on getting enough protein and good fats (EFA's: omega oils from fish, flax seeds/oil, hemp seeds/oil, evening primrose, etc.). And then... there could be a lot of different supplements that would help, in addition to evening primrose (which, however, is probably a good start). St. Francis Herb Farm has a good herbal tincture (Vitex) with a typical mix of herbs: vitex (agnus castus), damiana, dong quai, perhaps licorice... I forget which things are in it for sure. It's advertised as a menopause remedy, but it's not just for that -- it helps balance female hormones in general. I've used it for an irregular cycle myself.
However, as someone has already suggested, you should get some more personalized help, from a doctor or (preferably) naturopath who can address your own specific needs, based on the history of your problem. These irregularities can have many different causes, and the remedy would need to be different in each case.
I would definitely advise you to get off the pill as soon as possible, though; of course it can be necessary in extreme cases (if you get hospitalized because of blood loss, for example, then by all means do whatever will keep you out of the hospital), but the pill isn't a cure: it only takes care of the symptom, not the cause, and artificially injects you full of synthetic or horse-derived hormones... it's the opposite of balancing your system -- it only screws it up more, and has side effects into the bargain. So do seek a natural remedy if you can; A natural path may take a bit more work than just taking the pill, but I think in the end you'll be glad you put in the extra effort.
Reply:From what I've experienced, it does a lot to make your mood more regular, but not your cycle. I also tend to have easier cramps with evening primrose. The pill is sometimes known to help regulate a cycle. I would reccomend talking to your gynaecologist! Reply:Try drinking raspberry leaf tea, it helps in a variety of ways. It can also help lessen period pain. I hope this helps.
Reply:Being under weight can lead to irregular periods or none at all,but as far as Evening Primrose helping?I can't say for sure but its worth a try.I used it before and after my Hysterectomy and I think it helped me.

I have been reading a lot about evening primrose oil. Have you tried it?
As I have said in my other questions, my husband and I are ttc. I have been taking prenatal vitamins and folic acid. I am currently ovulating (tmi? sorry) and just finished reading about preseed oil. Should I run out and buy some? Does it really work?
I have been reading a lot about evening primrose oil. Have you tried it?
evening primrose is to help soften and ripen cervix but I dont know how safe it is for sperm. "pre-seed" is the only known vaginal lubricant that doesnt kill/effect sperms ability to fertilize egg
Reply:I heard the preseed lub is great check out www.twoweekwait.com I just bought it and I used it it felt good?
Good luck
Reply:are you talking about Pre-Seed Lub or eving Primrose Oil??
Reply:try it!
i don't think there are any guarantees, but it's worth a shot.
wishing you a happy baby season! :)
Reply:What exactly are you using Evening Primrose oil for?? It's NOT for ttc. It can actually cause a miscarriage or if you are pregnant cause labor(I used it on my 4th because I was overdue and miserable) Evening Primrose oil causes your uterus to contract and your cervix to efface and open(not a good thing if you are in early pregnancy. My advice don't be trying to use that to ttc. I don't know what preseed is, I've heard people mention it, but I haven't used it or even know what's in it, but don't use evening primrose oil..

Evening Primrose Oil? How do you take it?
I have been told to take it from Day 1 of my cycle to ovulation. Does that mean to the beggening or end of ovulation??
Evening Primrose Oil? How do you take it?
You can take it to the end of ovulation but then you want to stop - if you have conceived, evening primrose oil isn't recommended for pregnant women. Good luck and best wishes!

Primrose School or Learning Garden (Bright Horizon)? Can anyone tell me which one is better?
We just moved to Charlotte, NC and looking for good preschool. Thanks.
Primrose School or Learning Garden (Bright Horizon)? Can anyone tell me which one is better?
I have actually worked for both of those companies. The down side of primrose is that they bolt all of the furniture to the floor around the outside of the room. Their reasons for doing this sound good. They want to keep the children always in the teacher's view and they don't want any child to pull furniture down on themselves. In reality, it means that a teacher cannot move say the science center to the middle of the room if she wants to do a unit on weather and with younger children a huge open space makes for generally "wild and rambunctious" behavior. All of that said, if your child is 4 the room arrangement won't effect them much. Both are well known for paying their teachers well and offering benefits, which means lower teacher turnover. My advice would be to check the naeyc site. NAEYC is the voluntary accrediting agency here in the states. Their web site will let you know if either of those two particular schools have undergone the extensive process of accreditation. You will also find a list of things to look for and questions to ask when you visit. Both schools would probably provide a great leaning environment for your child. If you really get down to the wire and cannot make a decision, take your child for a visit and see which teacher and environment is a better match for them.

Is it ok for a girl underweight, w/ very irregular period and also on birth control to take even primrose oil?
hi. i was on the craziest diet, almost no fat and only vegetables and fruit, now my periods are all messed up, i would usually only get my period like 4 times a year. so now i'm on yasmin, and is it okay to take even primrose oil everyday?! i plan to take 1 EPO, 1 fish oil everyday, is that okay?! thanks!
Is it ok for a girl underweight, w/ very irregular period and also on birth control to take even primrose oil?
If you are underweight i wouldnt recomend it. Evening primrose oil is known also as a weight loss supplement and if you are underweight i doubt you would want to lose more weight. If you are taking yasmin it should regulate your period after awhile as long as you take it correctly.
Reply:Your periods are screwed up because you are starvinng to death, I think you should start taking vitamin and mineral suppliments, and something with some FAT in it.
Reply:Please see this link on information (accurate) about EPO. I have to highlight the fact that it does not have any proven efficacy in premenstrual symptoms, etc. It also can interact with fish oils to cause nosebleeds. In addition it can lower your immune system. Most importantly, it may lower the seizure threshold and women with eating disorders are already at a higher risk for seizures.

Is there any harm in putting evening primrose oil on my penis and having sex with my wife to induce labor?
Our last boy was huge (10lbs, 15oz) and our "nut %26amp; berry" dr. wants everything to be natural so she won't induce until she's past 41 weeks (she is at 39 now). I've read sex and evening primrose oil are good for naturally inducing labor, so I figure both together might be better. Can that hurt anything?
Is there any harm in putting evening primrose oil on my penis and having sex with my wife to induce labor?
I would be cautious about allowing her to go to 41 weeks. My mother was at 40 weeks and the amniotic fluid was drying up. They HAD to induce her. Please make sure she is having ultasounds done and being checked regularly to make sure it's safe to let her continue on.
The evening primrose can be taken vaginally by suppository but I dont think I would recommend having sex with it. I would imagine it would be very messy and could cause her a yeast infection. I think you should also consult with your doctor about her taking the primrose because whatever she is putting in her body- she's also giving to the baby. I hope all goes well. GOOD LUCK!
Reply:just to b on the safe side ask either a midwife, Dr or even a pharmacist. its better to b safe then sorry. good luck.
Reply:I actually was told that you can insert those into the vagina. And they will disolve. It is supposed to help Overdue women.Become more dialated and hopefully start the labor process. by the way it was a professional Mid wife who told me it was okay.
Reply:nope nothing wrong with it.
Reply:Sex is always a natural way, make sure she reaches climax though. Not sure about the oil, I hear it works, I hear it doesn't, I hear it's safe and well i hear some just dont like it. Havn't heard anything bad about it, lets put it that way.
If that doesn't work, have her get up and start walking, even at this point getting up and walkign is the last thing she wants to be doing but walking is a great natural inducing for labor, it just takes awhile, yeah I know you want it to happen now. But it's a way.
I don't think it will hurt any, as long as she's feeling ok, go for it.
Good luck!
PS Some Dr's really don't ever induce, at my practice the only doctor that would be willing to do it was my doctor, and we'd had talked about doing it, I luckily went before, but still. It may not be because of anything else than what their practice does. If there's medical reason though, they'd do it, other than that they just won't... Why I don't know, some do , some don't. Stick with the sex,
Reply:EPO does not induce labor. All it does is help ripen and soften the cervix; and even that won't work if the body isn't almost ready anyhow. However, if your wife(or yourself) can reach, just check her cervix. If it is opening some and squishy inserting a couple EPO gelcaps before bed won't hurt anything.
Reply:The oil might irritate her already sensitive vagina. Don't risk a yeast infection. Sex will most likely work the best at inducing labor, it is recommended by doctors. So go ahead have a lot of sex. It works best if she orgasms, might trigger contractions.
Reply:The primrose oil is perfectly safe for your wife. If it is safe for her private areas it is for sure safe for yours. I say go for it and have fun. Just remember that having sex doesn't work for starting labor unless the women reaches climax. The climax makes the uterus contract and therefore hopefully it will continue to contract and induce natural labor.
Reply:Geez. The woman is about to give birth. Give her a break.

syptoms i get (mainly depression) but after the first day i took them i woke up with stomach cramps and on the 2nd day had a slight ache in stomach. Must be to do with tablets because i haven't eaten anything unusual? should i stop takeing them? wat else can help with pmt that is natural?
I'm in my 20's and just started taking evening primrose oil and starflower as i thought my help with pmt
It is hard to say if it is these tablets or just a bug you've picked up. The solution is simple, stop taking the tablets and leave them off until four days after the symptoms have cleared up and try them again, if the stomach cramp returns then you have a problem with those tablets.
It does not mean that you necessarily have a problem with evening primrose oil but maybe just with that particular tablet. The one that works best is Efamol's Efamarine, it is a combination of evening primrose and fish oils. You should also be taking a good multi vitamin mineral supplement that is yeast free and produced from natural products.

Does anyone have any idea if evening primrose oil will help start labor again once it has been stopped?
I started to get contractions at around 2:30 pm yesterday i later went to the hospital when my contractions were every 4-5 min apart.I found out that i hadn't dialated and so they stopped my contractions.i would like to find out if evening primrose oil will help to bring them on again as the baby is ok to come out..NO idea y they were stopped in the first place.....
Does anyone have any idea if evening primrose oil will help start labor again once it has been stopped?
how far along are you? most doctors will stop them if you are not at least 36 or 37 weeks, why didn't you protest when you found out they were going to stop them?
oh and the evening primrose oil is for softening the cervix
Reply:i think it is suppose to relax you, not induce labor
Reply:Only use what your doctor advises - make sure you know all side effects for you and baby.
Reply:The lady above me sort of beat me to the punch, but I think it's worth reinforcing that evening primrose oil will NOT induce labour. As she said, it will soften the cervix, but will have no effect on contractions at all.
Before you look into ways to naturally induce labour, you would be best to find out why the doctors felt the need to stop your contractions to begin with.
Reply:try raspberry leaves, you can get them in holland and barrat i think its called you can get them in capsules or u can open them into boiling water and drink like tea. this is wot my midwife told me, also try a hot bath, sex or a hot curry is supposed to help. good luck, hope all goes well

Does evening primrose oil and robitussin affects the action of follistim?
hi..i just want to know if taking this EPO and Robitussin affects or counteract the effectivity of follistim injectibles ( an injectible fertility med)....thanks!
Does evening primrose oil and robitussin affects the action of follistim?
I wouldn't take the primrose it's often perscribed as a homeopathic way to enduce labor. Not something you want (uterine contractions) when trying to get pregnant.
The Robitussin is completely fine. In fact, my R.E. recommended I use it when taking my injectibles.

Can i give my dog my Evening-primrose capsules?
what for? I thought that was used for female issues?
Can i give my dog my Evening-primrose capsules?
i give them to my dog, the vet recommended it. She has flaxseed oil tablets too, they don't do any harm. For her skin and arthritis, helps too.
Reply:NO !
Reply:Why would you do this??
Not all supplements that humans take are good or even safe for dogs. So to be safe, no, don't give them to her.

Has anybody tried Evening primrose overnight creme by Burt's bees?
Burt's Bees Evening Primrose Overnight Creme moisturizer. Have you tried it yet? do you like it or not? why?
Has anybody tried Evening primrose overnight creme by Burt's bees?
its very good for the wintertime, as its very mositurizing...I don't believe in using night creams though, as they contradict what your skin is trying to do at night....so worn during the day (if you have normal -dry skin) its a nice product.

Which brand has the highest concentration of primrose oil?
I'm being presumptious but, if your taking it for the omega 3 fatty acids. Take Fish oils instead. If you research it Eve.Primrose only contains one of the com-ponents of the omega 3 that convert to the 2 others. Fish oils contain the 2 that are important and you don't have to rely on the conversion and the loss within the conversion of roughly 15-20 to 1.

Brand? Do we get options? I don't mean to be a smart *** but cmon you could have.

Is primrose effective for inducing labor? How much should I take? I am 6 days overdue.?
I have never heard about primrose. But I have read on here that engaging in sex with your partner does bring on labor. Something about the semen causing the cervix to thin.
Also walking and lots of it helps to.
Some people would say spicy foods, but those probably would come back to haunt you if you went into labor. So I would not recommend that.
Is primrose effective for inducing labor? How much should I take? I am 6 days overdue.?
I found a midwife website that suggested this. I never found it at my grocery, but I think you have to go to an organic store or something like it. It also suggested Castor oil (not castrol oil) and this worked for me. Either way, I would talk to your ob about either before trying it.
Reply:I read you can get primrose caplets at your pharmacy, however I also found another website that has other natural labour inducers:
http://www.webspawner.com/users/karentaz...
Reply:what works better is a breast pump.
pump for maybe an hour or two, you wont get hardly anything out since the baby hasnt relased the hormones to make the milk drop, but the action of pumping will educe labor, just about 9 times out of 10.
Reply:Midwives use this to help induce. They take the oil and rub it on the cervix 2 times a day and take 2 of the pills a day.
You can get the gelcaps ( which you can break open) at walmart or walgreens
Reply:I don't know about the primrose but mowing the yard helped with my first child who was 7 days over and taking a bumpy car ride worked to help me dialate with my second.
Reply:sex can induce labor
Reply:Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) WILL NOT induce labor. It will help to ripen your cervix. It WILL NOT induce contractions.
Reply:There are may herbs that can help stimulate labor. I would really try to avoid bringing labor on. When the baby is ready labor will start. There is a chemical that the baby's lungs will release when the lungs are fully developed and that will start labor. Do you know when you actually ovulated and conceived? It might be that you ovulated a little later than normal and the baby is not quite 40 weeks yet. If I didn't chart my temps and track ovulation my midwife would have put my due date two weeks earlier that it actually should be (for some reason I ovulated two weeks late the cycle that I got pregnant in). All of this to say that unless the doc is treatening with pitocin or c-section just give the baby a little more time;-)
Also walking and lots of it helps to.

Evening Primrose Oil for starting labor?
Has anyone ever used this during pregnancy to jumpstart labor and for swelling and high blood pressure. We are trying natural remedies for starting labor since I am at risk for developing Preeclampsia and then having to induce. I have gained 7 lbs due to water retention and swelling is out of control. I don't want to induce because I've heard labor is harder and could lead to needing a C-Section. I also don't want to use castor oil because I've heard too many bad things about the cramping, diarrhea and vomiting that will occur.
Evening Primrose Oil for starting labor?
First off...Constult your Doctor on ANYTHING you are thinking of taking!!
Remember, what ever you put in your body, your putting in your babys body!
As for the boating and swelling, cut down on the salt! Skp the tomatoes, celery, potato chips, Doritoes and Mac %26amp;Cheese!
These are "loaded" in salt! And if your retaining water, its best to leave these out of your routine.
Walk! Moving the legs gets the water moving also and makes it come out of your system faster...(I am a heart patient so I know about water retention!).
Coffee is a natural diuretic. It will bring water out of the body also.
Drink some cranberry juice as it helps the kidneys.
DONT INDUCE until the Doctor says its ok! To do so before hand, maybe detrimental to the baby! Keep in touch with your Prenatal Care Physican for all things!
I hope you have a beautiful bouncing baby (what ever its sex is),and that the rascal is healthy as a horse and grows up to be big and strong!
I wish you well...

Tomorrow my 22 months old daughter starts at primrose school...what should I bring for her?
I have the following things all ready to go, and i just dont know if i am forgetting anything?? Please primrose parents, let me know! :-)
Diapers
Wipes
(3) change of clothes
Diaper rash cream
Sunscreen
Mosquito repellant
Binky
Tomorrow my 22 months old daughter starts at primrose school...what should I bring for her?
perhaps some orajel if she is teething.
Bottle or Sippy Cup, which ever she drinks out of
and a jacket in case they go outside and play maybe.
if she has a certain blanket or a special toy that she is attachted to i'd send that.
Reply:What is primrose school?
Reply:a blanket and her favorite toy
Reply:The list you have looks pretty inclusive. You might want to check out www.opmom.com. There are great circles devoted to everything about mothering/parenting. It's very informative and supportive. Hope this helps!
Reply:I would send something that makes her comfortable, like a teddy bear or a blankie. Something that will give her a secure feelling.
Tarzan's Jane
Reply:I have no idea what a Primrose School is but something we like to leave with our son (16 Months) when we leave him is a photo of us and one of our dog. many people who have spent time with him recently (aunts uncles etc) said he goes to his bag looking for his pictures and is instantly happier when he sees us and his dog.
I think that helps his transition into someone else's care.
Reply:I don't know the school, but when my daughter went to pre-school we brought a little pillow and blankie for nap time.
Reply:Hon, does she have a favorite blanky and/or a favorite stuffed animal that she sleeps with? If so, send it along to ease her transition from baby to toddler hood and big girl school. It can be a frightening time for her, so be prepared!
Reply:did they do a background check on the teachers?
Reply:i work at a day care also, just not primrose. but i would suggest stuff for nap time, a blanket, something to cuddle with. you may need to provide your own sippy cups, unless you trust them to wash them for you (here in ohio, its a state rule that centers are not allowed to wash dishes in the classroom) i tell my parents to provide me 3 a day and they have to take all 3 home every night. hopefully your child is in pull ups and not diapers and hopefully they will potty train your child while in their care. and ask them to give you a copy of the lunch menu for the month just in case there is something that your child won't eat, you can then pack them a lunch. hope i helped.

How effective is evening primrose oil for labor induction-?
First let me say that my dr has given me the go ahead for trying some home remedies. i have done a little research on this and i do know that this WON'T induce you but just helps soften the cervix. How long should it take though ? I have a gel tab that is 1300 mg and one is to be taken a day. I was going to use them as a vaginal supository assuming that would work the best. Does anyone have details on this herb or any advice to give? any thoughts welcome :-)
How effective is evening primrose oil for labor induction-?
can cause pain fully contracions ,if i was you do it first thing in the morning ,and then go shopping do a bit of cleaning ,and things should kick in, it did for me, also acuter puncher ,[i cant spell this] really works well i if you are full term there will put you into labour, every one that i know has done it and it work withing 24hours plus you feel great, and it only cost around 20.00 to 50.00 good luck her are some other things that could work
walking
sex
castoil?be care full
swiping of the cervix
bumpy car ride
breast pump on nipples
and if no of this work go crying to doctor they mit book you
Reply:Do not mess up your system by using anything. If the doctor thought you were in need of induction he would bring you in and give you a proven drug in a safe surrounding.
You will give birth when nature intends, although I understand your impatience, its not worth the danger of introducing infection or a foreign substance into the birth canal when you just might have the baby while some material is still present, and that could lead to the baby getting an infection.
Its not worth it.

Reply:I wouldn't do that unless I checked with a vet. If you don't have a vet or can't afford one, ask the local branch of the ASPCA. What is the reason you think you cat needs evening of primrose oil? Did you know that raw onions and raw garlic are lethal to cats. They cause a leukemia like disease.
Reply:Why would you do that in the first place?

Coconut Oil,Primrose Oil, Jojoba Oil-- Where Can I get it?
I have heard these are all good for your hair. Can you get these at a nutrition store.. or beauty supply.. or what?
Where can you get primrose??
Coconut Oil,Primrose Oil, Jojoba Oil-- Where Can I get it?
I'd say your best bet is searching online for them, if you want them in the pure form. You are probably better off though, finding a shampoo and conditioner that uses those oils in them. Just be careful, becuase most things you can buy from the store state they have these oils in them, but the trace amounts aren't enough to do any good. I know a few good brands...email me if you want more info.

Reply:i take evening primrose oil but in capsule form. and it is good for the hair. you can find it at walmart.
i would think the health food store would have them in the liquid form.
Reply:if you go to a beauty supply you will find products with these ingriedents just look on the bottle. you can find something with these oils but i would ask the clerk to suggest something for your hair type these oils all do bdifferent things find out what you need for your hair
Reply:It's better if it is COconut oil, because it has no effects on the part of the body where you applied. Coconut oil absorbs your skin and is very effective in using it . If you gonna try JOJOBA oil, it has also processes to make this JOJOBa oil.

Has anyone ever heard of Primrose Tea and know it's effects?
Both the flower and root of Primrose are used medicinally, and have a variety of unproven uses in folk medicine. The flower serves as a remedy for headache, nerve pain, and tremors, and is used as a "heart tonic" for sensations of dizziness and cardiac insufficiency. Primrose root is taken for whooping cough, asthma, gout, and nerve pain. In homeopathic medicine, Primrose is prescribed for skin conditions.
An overdose of Primrose can lead to stomach problems, nausea, and diarrhea.
I tried b4 and I stop because of sleepless nite.

Evening primrose oil capsules to start dilation?
In a previous question asked on here (about how to get dilation started) someone mentioned evening primrose oil capseules. I was curious to see what more information anyone had about this. Have you used them or know anyone who has? Do they really work to start dilation? Does it hurt the baby in anyway?
I'm almost 39 weeks and havent started dilating yet. This is my first full term pregnancy.
Evening primrose oil capsules to start dilation?
It order for them to work, midwives will tell you to start using them about 3 weeks before your due date! I tried using them to help me dialate because i was about 3 CM at 39 weeks and it didn't do anything for me! i took 1 capsule and inserted one capsule up by the cervix. Its perfectly safe and won't cause any harm to the baby or you. It of course feels kind of funny and when you stand up to go pee you might think for a second that your water broke becuase the oil will leak out when you first stand up...but its just the oil!!!
One person on here tried to say it would hurt the baby because it was a "unsanitary thing" to be by the baby.....
but uh....
one of the main ways to start labor is have sex isn't it? Im pretty sure a sealed capsule of herbs is much more sanitary than penis. lol
good luck!!! im now 40 weeks and 5 days pregnant....and im still at 2 CM..im being induced today..so...good luck! it didn't work for me..but its probably becuase i didn't start it early enough!
CONGRATS!
Reply:i read a research paper that showed no differences in birth outcomes (length of gestation and length of labor) between two groups of women: one treated with EPO and one without.
Reply:it does not dilate you it is suppose to soften your cervix
Reply:That is what I have heard also that it is suppose to just soften your cervix. Also you will most likely go pass your due date.
Don't worry hang in there, it will be any day now. I always tell
women when they get to this point to just walk, A LOT !
Take care.

Did evening primrose oil work for you?
did it help induce labor, did you thin out or dialate earlier,or did your water break? How long did you use it for? Just wanting to know your experiece with it?
Did evening primrose oil work for you?
hmm...
you know, that's a neurotoxin?
I'd recomend going to a hospital and getting a perscreption inducant if you want to induce it earlier.

Where can I buy 1000mg Virgin Evening Primrose Oil Capsules?
Quick answer you cannot. Evening Primrose Oil has to be mixed with Vitamin E to stop the oil from oxidizing, going off. However you will find a good high concentrate of the oil with low Vitamin E, just keep looking.

I'm going to transplant some primrose flowers from a pot to the yard. Do they take 'full sun' ?
Primroses (Primula) prefer cool temperatures, a rich humus soil (lots of compost and leaf mold) and partial shade. They appreciate full sun in the spring, but must have semi shade as the temperatures warm. They are quite tolerant of being transplanted, even when they are in bloom.
Newly purchased plants may be set into the garden in early spring. Older plants may be divided and transplanted right after they are finished blooming. They should be planted in a cool, partly shady area in the garden with rich, well draining, slightly acid soil (pH 6.5). Primroses need to be planted so that their crown is right at soil level, and at least six inches apart.
Primroses may be grown indoors if you are able to provide them with cool night temperatures of 50-60 degrees F., high humidity, filtered sun and moist soil. Daytime temperatures must remain below 80 degrees. When they have finished blooming in the house it is best to plant them directly into the garden, or summer them outdoors in their pots and moved back to the house at the end of the season.
I'm going to transplant some primrose flowers from a pot to the yard. Do they take 'full sun' ?
I find they do better planted near to trees or bushes where they get 1/2 sun. They like morning son. I also have them in the shade in loamy soil. I also have some in my rock garden. The tuffies with the darker leaves come back every year. The ones that get full sun are in the planter out front and by end of May (they start to get ugly) get transferred to the back garden (north) to make way for geraniums for summer. Primroses don't seem to like it too hot and dry.
Reply:yes!!
Reply:I did this myself last fall and they are thriving! I transplanted them to a spot under my roof overhang next to the western wall. They get shade in the morning because my house blocks the sun, they get about 4 hours of sun in the afternoon (11-3 EST) before the sun drops below my neighbor's two story house. In short, I think a full southern exposure may be too much sun for them - unless you live in northern Canada :)

What can you tell me adout primrose? (just FACTS)?
from www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/p/primr... :
In the early days of medicine, the Primrosewas considered an important remedy in muscular rheumatism, paralysis and gout. Pliny speaks of it as almost a panacea for these complaints.
The whole plant is sedative and in modern days a tincture of the fresh plant in bloom, in a strength of 10 OZ. to 1 pint of alcohol, in doses of 1 to 10 drops has been used with success in America in extreme sensitiveness, restlessness and insomnia. The whole plant has somewhat expectorant qualities.
An infusion of the flowers was formerly considered excellent against nervous hysterical disorders. 'Primrose Tea,' says Gerard, 'drunk in the month of May is famous for curing the phrensie.' The infusion may be made of 5 to 10 parts of the petals to 100 of water.
In modern herbal medicine the infusion of the root is generally taken in tablespoonful doses as a good remedy against nervous headaches. A teaspoonful of the powdered dry root serves as an emetic.
'Of the leaves of Primrose,' Culpepper tells us, 'is made as fine a salve to heal wound as any I know.'
The leaves are said to be eagerly eaten by the common silkworm.
In ancient cookery the flowers were the chief ingredient in a pottage called 'Primrose Pottage.' Another old dish had rice, almonds, honey, saffron, and ground Primrose flowers. (From A Plain Plantain.)
The Primrose family is remarkable for the number of hybrids it produces. The garden 'Polyanthus of unnumbered dyes,' as the poet Thomson calls it in 'The Seasons,' is only another form (probably of the Cowslip or Oxlip) produced by cultivation. The Oxlip is distinguished from the Primrose by its flowers being stalked umbels and of a deeper shade of yellow and by its leaves becoming suddenly broader above the middle. It varies from the Cowslip by its tubular, not bell-shaped calyx and flat, not concave corolla.

Can evening primrose with starflower oil help you conceive?
i have heard it can - is this true? my hubby and i are ttc and we suffered a miscarriage in november and was wondering what else apart from healthy diet and plenty of sex can increase our chances
Can evening primrose with starflower oil help you conceive?
Evening primrose on it's own can help your CM(cervical mucus ) keep moist.
Read about preseed. It helps create a sperm friendly environment for sperm and can help it last longer. If a woman feels she's not producing enough CM it can make the sperm's swim to the womb harder and that's where preseed can help and it has quite a high sucess rate.
Multi-vitamins or geritol can help.Chasteberry tea
helps to balance hormones.
Selenium helps cell renewal and for men- helps protect sperm.
God Bless and plenty baby dust from one ttc to another!

This is only personal opinion and was written to cater to general audiences. Not responsible for any side effect of this advice, i.e. getting pregnant. This advice assumed that you have undergo medical check up and do not have any clinical problem, i.e. PCOS, block uterus, impotent, etc.
In order to ensure you get a good chance to get pregnant is to understand how it happen and then try to help the process to happen. Pregnancy happen when sperm join the egg, as such both must be present at the same time. Therefore it is good to ensure you ensure you and your husband have sex at the highest probability this happen.
1. Sperm is being generated continuously in male reproductive system. However, sperm and _*** is not the same thing, i.e. if you have sex daily, the sperm count in _*** might be lower. As such, you might want to hold off sex 2 - 3 days before trying. (No masturbating also.)
2. You need to do in 1 – 2 days before your ovulation. During most times of the month, the sperm are killed pretty fast. They do get some protection from the surrounding seminal fluid, but they are too weak to swim through thick, acidic vaginal mucus. Only once a month does the woman's body help the sperm out by making clear, stretchy mucus that is good for the swimmers! That is around ovulation, when the body wants the sperm to succeed.
3. Selecting baby sex: It was noted that sperm for male died slightly easier, compared to sperm for female. As such, some folks remedial may include stressing the sperm to determine the sex of the baby, i.e. washing vaginal with acidic material (i.e. vinegar, lemon) for female or douse with baking soda (or specifically devised alkaline solutions) before intimate relation to give boost to male sperm which swim faster. Increase the acidity slightly kills the weaker male sperm – so the theory goes (not too much or you end up killing all of it).
3.a. When trying to conceive a boy, it is suggested that orgasms during sex are a good thing as the body produces substances after orgasm that makes the vaginal environment more alkaline, which favors the "boy" sperm. The contractions which accompany an orgasm help move the sperm up and into the cervix, giving the "boy" sperm an extra chance at being available when your egg is available for fertilization.
3.b. Also suggested that if you are trying to conceive a boy, deep penetration from your partner, preferably with the "doggy style" position, will deposit the sperm closer to the cervix giving the more aggressive and quicker moving "boy" sperm a head start to fertilizating the egg first.
3.c. I have also read that wearing tight pants, going to spa can also caused testes temperature to be higher (female baby), loose pants/boxer is cooler. This happen because the sperm is being stored in testes. More info from http://answers.google.com/answers/thread...
4. Illness can temporarily reduce sperm count, so if the father is sick you may want to delay your attempt until the following cycle.
5. Smoking, drug and alcohol use, and exposure to toxic chemicals, can all reduce sperm count.
6. Emotional stress is associated with lower sperm counts. You may want to check into relaxation techniques.
7. Regular exercise and maintaining a healthy weight are lifestyle changes that can improve sperm count.
8. Lack of certain vitamins and minerals can lower sperm count. You may want to try a nutritional supplement for enhancing male fertility
9. If you're worried that you may have a low sperm count, you can use an at-home semen analysis kit to check your sperm concentration.
10. Any form of stress, not just heat, can affect sperm production and lower sperm count.
11. Diet: The father may have some caffeine just before intercourse.
The father can have a couple of cups of coffee (or other caffeinated drink) fifteen minutes to half an hour before intercourse.
Caffeine gives both types of sperm a boost, but the Y-sperm would get a little more of a boost.
12. In order to ensure that the eggs supply is available, you need to ensure that you are not stress.
13. You need to ensure that you are in ovulating phase. Ovulation occurs when a mature egg is released from the ovary, pushed down the fallopian tube, and is available to be fertilized. An egg lives 12-24 hours after leaving the ovary. Normally only one egg is released each time of ovulation. Ovulation can be affected by stress, illness or disruption of normal routines
14. Sperm can live 5-7 days after sex and it is possible to have sex before you ovulate and not during and still get pregnant.

Did I ask the question wrong on Primrose oil?
I don't want to go early but this is my 4th pregnancy and I had complications w/ my lastone leading to c-section. Evening Primrose Oil does not start labor it just helps thin the cervix which I have had a past of having to have cervix softeners after being admitted for labor. They cannot use the softeners for a vbac due to poss. rupture of the uterus. That is why I am looking into using this as close to my DD as possible. I just want to here of others who have used it and their comments. Besides castor oil can cause severe upset stomach and can even cause the baby to have a bowel movement before birth (meconium) again I don't want to go early just help me to have successful NATURAL vbac. Any advice?

You can also take blue cohosh. It helps tone the uterus and makes birthing easier. Just take precaution on this as well like you would any other herb.
Make sure you get plenty of exercise. I read in my midwife books that to walk at least a mile every day. Swimming is also very good.
Do kegals.
Perenium massages are good to help prevent tearing.
Do you know what kind of incision and suture you had with your C section? The likelihood of rupture is quite low (1%) if you had a horizantal incision with double sutures.
Reply:If you had a 'bikini cut'... or horizontal cut , the chances of rupture are WAY LOW....as opposed to the 'classic cut'.... or verticle cut. I don't see the problem of using epo.
.......... Good Luck!! ...........
Reply:EPO should be fine for you. It won't induce labor but could help to ripen your cervix. I am pretty sure that your caregiver CAN give you prostaglandin gel even if you are a VBAC.....it won't rupture the uterus because it doesn't cause contrax...just helps to soften things up. BUT....prostaglandins are something your hubby can provide you at home without the doctors help. Semen can ripen the cervix and orgasm can bring on contractions.

Do evening primrose tablets stop your period?
ive been taking these tablets for 12 days now i bought the well woman / evening primrose oil starflower oil combination and have only been taking them for 12 days, so far no pmt whatsoever and my period has not arrived either was due on sunday
has anyone tried these, have they worked, do they stop pms, do they stop periods? any side effects on them are they ok to take with other medicines ???
Do evening primrose tablets stop your period?
They don't stop your periods, it must be a coincidence. As far as I know it's ok to take other medications with them, but it would be a good idea to ask your doctor or pharmacist before you take any other medications along with them.
I don't know of any side-effects. But again, ask your doctor or pharmacist. It's something that a pharmacist in particular will know all about.
Reply:They're only supposed to help with cramps and pms-- they're not supposed to make your periods stop. You should talk to a pharmacist to make sure you can take it with the other meds you're on. And always talk to your doctor before starting any new treatments-- even herbal.
Reply:they wont stop them theyre afterall a herbal remedy. they are to help with symptoms of pmt. First thing dr will ask is are u sure your not pregnant??
Reply:no they don't stop the periods

What did Hugo de Vries discover in the evening primrose?
In 1889, De Vries published his book Intracellular Pangenesis , in which, based on a modified version of Charles Darwin's theory of Pangenesis of 1868, he postulated that different characters have different hereditary carriers. He specifically postulated that inheritance of specific traits in organisms comes in particles. He called these units pangenes, a term 20 years later to be shortened to genes by Wilhelm Johannsen.
To support his theory of pangenes, which was not widely noticed at the time, De Vries conducted a series of experiments hybridising varieties of plants in the 1890s and he discovered new forms among a display of the evening primrose (Oenothera lamarckiana) growing wild in a waste meadow. His experiments led to the same conclusions as Mendel and confirmed his hypothesis: that inheritance of specific traits in organisms comes in particles

What does evening primrose oil do for you as everyone says to take it to bring on lab our?
the bottle says not to take while pregnant or breastfeeding, why are people recomending it and what does it exactlly do?
What does evening primrose oil do for you as everyone says to take it to bring on lab our?
If you are far enough along in your pregnancy to take it then go ahead. It is supposed to cause the cervix to efface or "thin out". The bottle says not to take it because they woudlnt want some woman who is only 35 or 36 weeks taking it because she wants to have her baby right away. A lot of women take it if they are 38 weeks or over. I dont think it really works. The women i know who have tried it didnt go into labor any time right after taking it. Although apparently it has worked for some women because you hear people talk about it all the time. HTH and good luck with labor! I hope it is short and sweet for you!
Reply:Do not use this unless you are over 38 weeks pregnant. Cause I have heard that it will bring on labor but then again I have heard that it wont bring on labor. I have several friends that tried primrose and it never did work for them. And I have tried alot thing to bring on labor and it never did work. You wont have your baby untill your baby is ready to be born. But have fun trying anyways...
Reply:It's recommended to put it on your cervix or rub it on your hands. It has natural hormones in it that help to ripen the cervix and bring on contractions.
Reply:They say that just to cover liability. You do NOT take it until you are 38 weeks. You can take in orally or you can insert it vaginally. (poke a hole in the gel tablet and insert it. Put on a pantie liner because some will leek out. Put it in right before you go to bed.
It is not for bringing on labor. It is to help soften your cervix. Sex also does that. There is something in the mans sperm that does the same thing...soften the cervix.

Can i take evening primrose capsules and blood pressure?
does anyone medically know if i can take evening primrose capsules the same time as blood pressure tablets please.
Can i take evening primrose capsules and blood pressure?
The active ingredient in Evening Primrose Oil is gamma-linolenic acid. This is thought to have anti-inflammatory and anti-thrombotic actions.
Medications that it interacts with include anti-schizophrenic drugs, warfarin, aspirin and painkillers such as ibuprofen (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). If you are taking any of these I would avoid taking evening primrose oil.
There are no documented interactions with blood pressure tablets.
Reply:You should try MonaVie. This will lower your blood pressure and you won't have to worry about mixing anything. This will probably eliminate the need for primrose also. This drink is life changing. I know!!!!! Contact me for more info. www.dreambuilding2007@yahoo.com.au
Reply:There shouldn't be any problems with taking evening primrose oil capsules with blood pressure or blood pressure tablets.
The only problem with supplements with blood pressure tablets generally is vitamin E. High doses - and I mean really high doses such as 500IU or more - can produce a temporary increase in blood pressure.
Now, vitamin E can actually help with blood pressure and cardiovascular problems generally, but start with a low dose, and increase slowly until you have at least 500 or even 800 - 1,000IU daily.
Although evening primrose oil capsules will normally have a small amount of vitamin E - it really is a small amount, far less than 100 or even 50IU (unless it has been added, and it it not just a capsule of evening primrose).
Why are you taking evening primrose? In my experience Borage oil (Starflower oil) capsules are usually better. They provide the same ingredient - GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) but at a higher dosage. Usually 2 starflower oil capsules is the equivalent to 5 evening primrose oil capsules.
Reply:Well, I know evening primrose oil is to assist with pms symptoms...you should ask the physician that prescribed your other medication though. As a long-time user and advisor of natural remedies, I know they have no ill-effects. Again, I would still consult, but it sounds fine. Ciao!

Any info would be greatly appreciated about Primrose Oil on my uterus?
My midwife told me that in 2 weeks she wants me start taking primrose oil tabs to rub on my uterus. She said this will soften the uterus. Have any of you tried this before? If so, what were the results?
Or, does anyone know anything good or bad about it?
I'll be 38 weeks when I start taking it.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Any info would be greatly appreciated about Primrose Oil on my uterus?
I was actually reading about this the other day, I think it's supposed to helo soften the cervix. Here is the website about it!
Reply:I used them on my cervix along with taking black cohosh. I can't say if it helped or if I would've naturally progressed without them. It wasn't any big noticable change.
Reply:i would say to ask your doctor about this.
Reply:And you rub them directly on your uterus? Eew!
Reply:I've Never Heard Of This, But I Heard If You Drink Castor Oil, It Will Put You Into Labour... A Friend Drank It And Had her Son The Next Day
Reply:On your uterus?? How you gonna get in there to rub it on????
Reply:Evening Primrose Oil acts as a prostaglandin, which ripens or softens the cervix. It's also useful for softening scar tissue from abortions or IUD damage. This will soften/ripen the cervical tissues and increase the flexibility of the pelvic ligaments. This will help the baby to deeply engage in the pelvis. This early application of the baby's head will assist with dilation and should result in a relatively easy birth, even after multiple C-sections for "stalled" labor. Evening Primrose Oil may be helpful for women with borderline pelvises as well. The utilization of Evening Primrose Oil seems to enhance the complex set of biochemical messages that initiate labor.
You can take evening primrose oil, orally, in the last four weeks of your pregnancy. You should take three evening primrose oil capsules daily for the first week (36th week of gestation) and then one to two capsules a day for the last three weeks of pregnancy.
Reply:NOT your uterus....your cervix dear. I used it with my last and it helped get things moving. She wouldn't budge for the world and I was a day over and still no dialation or effacement and I used evening primrose oil and opened up the gels and pushed it up on my cervix and I took 2 capsules by mouth and I started into labor the next day.
Reply:I've heard that it softens it, but haven't heard anyhting bad about it.

Is Evening Primrose Oil dangerous?
Is Evening Primrose Oil dangerous (or does it pose a potential for danger) when taken during late pregnancy? I have been told that it is perfectly safe. I have also been told that it will NOT cause contractions in any way, shape or form.
Please explain how/why it can be dangerous in your answer. I am planning on taking this to ripen/soften my cervix for a scheduled induction.

Have you heard if Evening Primrose is good for a thyroid problem?
never heard of that. but perhaps the websites below may help. if anything, they will give you more insight to thyroid problems themselves.
here is some information about myself, plus some symptoms in case anyone coming upon your question may be interested;
i have low thyroid. if you have low thyroid...here's a great question to answer: can you see the floor of your house? that was what was asked of me at one point, and to my amazement, the answer was no!
anyway, the signs are:fatigue and lack of energy. Women suffering from underactive thyroid experience heavier menstrual periods. Sluggishness and forgetfulness are symptoms of underactive thyroid problem. Other symptoms of this thyroid disorder are dry skin and hair and constipation.
if you have high thyroid, or an overactive one, the signs are:increased body metabolism. This is followed by weight loss and excessive warmth and sweating. Persons suffering from overactive thyroid experience trembling hands, irritability and rapid heartbeat or palpitations. Women with overactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism may experience shorter or lighter menstrual periods.
I take medication, and sadly will have to take 1 pill everyday for the rest of my life. there's a blood check that they will do to see if you have low or high. i hope i've helped you!!
Have you heard if Evening Primrose is good for a thyroid problem?
Evening primrose oil is good for providing phytoestrogen - which helps your hormones. A thyroid problem is one of your metabolism - the basic cause for most thyroid problems is lack of iodine in our diet. You can take a supplement with iodine added (general supplement) or take kelp capsules, or just add seaweed to your diet.

Has anyone else taken Evening Primrose Oil during pregnancy and had problems?
I fell pregnant at the end of last year. I spoke to my GP about continuing to take Evening Primrose Oil (I have exczema so take 2000 mg per day) and he said it would be fine. I had a threatened miscarriage in January and miscarried in the February.
I'm now 5 weeks pregnant and have been continuing to take my EPO. I've just been looking through the internet which says it can cause miscarriages as softens the cervix and can lead to contractions.
I'm a little nervous now but hoping it's early enough to not have caused any problems.
Any one else experienced anything like this? And is it likely my GP was wrong?
Has anyone else taken Evening Primrose Oil during pregnancy and had problems?
gp's aren't often well schooled in herbs and alternative medicine things.
EPO is used near the end of pregnancy to soften the cervix and help induce labor. its a no no in early pregnancy
Reply:I wouldn't take it just to be safe.
Reply:EPO used to be used to induce miscarriage in ancient times. Wouldn't use it in early pregnancy!!!

Evening Primrose Oil - am I jumping the gun?
I'm coming up on my 3rd month ttc and a little concerned about having enough CM to get the job done. I bought some Evening Primrose Oil, but my DH thinks I'm getting ahead of myself and we should just try more foreplay. I'm not so sure that will even make a difference. What do you all think?
Evening Primrose Oil - am I jumping the gun?
I don’t think you jumping the gun! I have been taking evening prim rose oil and I love it! It helps with many other things as well! I would still take it! Do you know for sure that you’re ovulating? That would be first! There are several different herbs that you can take that help as well and teas too!! For the tea I went to a local store and just bought al the ingredients in bulk and spend less then $10.00
Reply:Evening primrose oil will indeed help increase CM! Personally I take 2000 mg of flax seed oil daily (vitamin-pill form). I also take clomid which has a negative effect on CM. You are NOT jumping the gun... I actually recommend it to any woman who experiences drying... CM is essential in becoming pregnant; once the semen is released it is YOUR CM that will carry the spermies to the egg. A woman's CM is made to mimick a man's a semen. Saliva is a natural killer of sperm... Also any lubricants such as Ky Jelly is NOT good for sperm. If you need lubricants the only known "sperm friendly" lubricant is preseed. Personally my man hates preseed!!! I dont' have any problems with it!
http://www.preseed.com
you are doing the best thing by taking a natural herb to increase CM! It by passes the lubricants!!! AND what your doing works! Take it everyday with your prenatal vitamin.. when ovulation time comes you'll notice a huge difference and will be able to say "I told you so! :)
BTW: I see someone posted robitussion - I did it also and it did NOTHING for me!!!!!
AND tell your man that CM and your "foreplay" wetness are two totally different things........... A woman's wetness to foreplay has also been known to kill sperm.. that is why a woman will avoid orgasm to increase chances of conceiving a girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Reply:YES YES YES!! It made a difference for me. It increased my EWCM from one day to 3 days the first month I've taken it! It's natural %26amp; only about $5 at walmart so what do you have to loose? Good luck I hope it helps youlike it did for me! Baby dust!!
Ps. Remember to only take it from your period up to Ovulation...not after ovulation!
Reply:Not really sure on the primrose thing but on the foreplay thing I have heard saliva kills sperm if oral is a part of your foreplay. Don't know how accurate that is but I have heard it mentioned. Good Luck!
Reply:i herd if you take robitussin the kind that ses cough/expectorant starting after your period has stoped up until you ovulate that supposed to help with bringing more cervical mucus hope this helpes good luck im doing the robitussin too so i hope its our month baby dust to you...

Evening Primrose Oil pills? How do they help induce labor?
I've heard it can be taken to induce labor, but what exactly does it do?
Evening Primrose Oil pills? How do they help induce labor?
From my experience, they strip your membranes. It really works too. I did it for less than a week and I was in labor. One of my friends did the same, and she was right in there in no time.
Reply:My midwife told me to take them. I had to take 2 (500mg) pills a day and insert one vaginally at night. All it does is helps soften the cervix. I took them for 3 weeks and still had my baby overdue one week so I do not think they work to induce labor.
Reply:"Oral evening primrose oil: its effect on length of pregnancy and selected intrapartum outcomes in low-risk nulliparous women.
Findings suggest that the oral administration of evening primrose oil from the 37th gestational week until birth does not shorten gestation or decrease the overall length of labor. Further, the use of orally administered evening primrose oil may be associated with an increase in the incidence of prolonged rupture of membranes, oxytocin augmentation, arrest of descent, and vacuum extraction."

Reply:STAY AWAY from these Pills!!! They can harm the baby seriously. Oh-and they don't help induce your labor...your baby will come when it's ready!
Reply:Try every myth you want.. your body will go when it's ready. I know you HATE to hear that b/c I hated it, but.. it will. Just walk alot.. if anything.
Reply:It doesn't induce labor- it softens the cervix.

What dose the medication evening primrose oil do for a women ladies only?
I believe it's for menopausal women, or women suffering from PMS.

Reply:First is not a medication, it is considered a herbal supplement.
Evening Primrose Oil contains GLA which is known to help prevent hardening of the arteries, heart disease, PMS, multiple sclerosis, inflammation, enhances the release of hormones including estrogen and testerone, aids in lowering cholesterol and used in the treatment of cirrhosis of the liver.
Reply:The Benefits of Evening Primrose Oil
EPO has been shown to be beneficial for a wide range of conditions.
Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) – has been shown to eradicate swollen abdomen and breast discomfort as well as reducing irritability and depression.
Eczema and other skin disorders – available on prescription for eczema Psoriasis may be helped by EPO and Fish Oils.
Cholesterol and Blood Pressure – has been shown to reduce high serum cholesterol and blood pressure, but may take several weeks or longer to achieve.
Rheumatoid Arthritis – sufferers have discontinued use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs after supplementation, but it is more effective when taken in conjunction with fish oils.
Alcoholism – may make withdrawal easier, and reduce post-drinking depression.
Immune System – low levels of essential fatty acids may stop the action of interferon, and body’s natural virus killer.
Other conditions – Obesity, Benign Breast Disease, Childhood Hyperactivity and Schizophrenia have all been shown to be helped by EPO supplementation.
Properties
EPO is rich in the fatty acid gamma linolenic acid (GLA), which is an important intermediary in the metabolic conversion of linolenic acid into Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). PGE1 is one of many prostaglandins which are interconvertible, and which modulate the action of many hormones.
Reply:is very good during mensteration to ease cramps etc and is also great for the skin and hair evening primrose oil is also good for hormonal balance - can help relieve breast pain, PMS and calm acne
Reply:Are you asking what dose you should take?
Ask a pharmicist.
If you're asking what it does...
It is used to releive pre-menstrual syndrome symptoms such as irritability, depression, bloating, water retention, sore breasts etc.
Reply:apparently it relieves PMT. You can also pierce the capsule and rub it on dry skin.
Reply:It is used quite a lot for women that suffer with PMT It helps to get rid of bloating, tension, and any other symptoms you get before you start a period

How soon did primrose oil work for you?
I'm ready to help the process of my labor. The Dr. gave me the okay to use it.
How soon did primrose oil work for you?
Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) will NOT induce or start labor. It will help soften your cervix and help speed dilation once the time comes. Take it every day by mouth and once you get closer to your due date, you can insert a couple of caps vaginally before bed.
Reply:I took one by mouth and one vaginally 1300mg yesterday and got ALOT of mucus. so yeah it works to soften and dilate i'm sure. see i am getting induced probably on tuesday so i want things to speed up as well. the more dilated and effaced i become the better. so i was stick one up in there. but like the other girl said do it at bed time. you want it to stay in there atleast 2 hours. when you go pee you'll see smething that looks like movie popcorn butter then some brown. but that will just be the coloring of the capsule. you can also just put the oil . but me i just put he capsule on my cervix and let it melt. i was getting ALOT of BH too. so hopefully is done something. they say it works like sperm.
Reply:How far along are you?
Reply:I am trying it, but nothing yet. I have been taking it by mouth for 3 weeks now.

Evening primrose while pregnant, is it safe?
I read that in the last two months that it's a good idea to take evening primrose so that it softens the cervix. Is this true? if so, what dosage do you need to take? Can an over dose cause birth defects? Thanks
Evening primrose while pregnant, is it safe?
Yes its safe to start taking after week 36, take 3 orally and insert up to 5 opened capsules vag. at night..be sure to wear a pad as they can get messy.
No it wont cause any birth defects.

Reply:I'm very interested in natural supplements and use them for different ailments, including fertility/hormonal problems but I have to warn you, that they are powerful. Just cuz they are natural does not mean they are any safter than typical medication. I wouldn't take any herbs or medications during pregnancy, unless it is approved by my doctor. So you cna run it by him or her, but in general, herbs have been known more to be benefical in ending pregnancy than supporting it. If you look on herbal tea bags, you will notice that they usually contain a warning about pregnant women taking this product, so to be on the safe side, I just wouldn't take it.
Reply:i would discuss this with you doctor some herbs can be healthy for you but dangerous for the baby especially if you dont know how much to consume

How much water do you give a primrose when you water it??????????????????????
Give it just enough to keep it moist but don't drownd it. Start off with a small cup of water. When you are finished watering let it sit for a few hours, then do the finger test, stick your finger in the soil at least an inch deep if the soil is still dry you didn't water enough if it is extremely wet, you watered too much, based on this you should find a happy medium within a week, by the way water your primrose every 2-3 days.
If you put pop a capsule of primrose and put it on a scar will this help remove it?
I poped one and it smells a bit iffy but i guess dats ok. The ingredients say it has primrose oil, gamma linolenic acid and vitamin E... Will this help heal my scar? (the pill is for pms and healthy skin lol)
If you put pop a capsule of primrose and put it on a scar will this help remove it?
I had a couple stretch marks and I used the cold pressed capsules on them and they totally helped, they changed color really quickly (for the better)... since stretch marks are kind of scars, I would try it! It doesn't smell hot, but if you take a needle and poke a hole in it, then use a circular motion on it you should see results.
Hope I helped!
P.S
If you are interested in making some cash for real, no joke and no membership fees, you should check out agloco...you may have heard of it, its an advertising company that is currently beta testing, and they are only allowing so many members to join right now for free. here's a link, I am not a representative or anything like that, but if you use my link I get points, just like you will if you sign up. They were in existence before but because of a .com crash in 2004 their whole company crashed... BUT they paid out every single one of their members. They are market researching hot products etc. by tracking a lot of peoples general searches, and they are for real, not like so many "survey" or "PTR" or "Lotto" companies.
You don’t have to sign up or even check the link out, but I would totally recommend it! If you stick with them, and recruit your friends, you could make some serious money!!! I am talking thousands!

Does evening primrose oil affect the potency of birth control pills?
i'm asking because my dermy told me to take evening primrose to help heal my active eczema. thanks in advance!
Does evening primrose oil affect the potency of birth control pills?
My herbal guide doesn't say that it does. It is also used for pms, among other things.
It does interact with the following medications: compazine, mellaril, navane, permitil, phenergan, prolixin, serentil, stelazine, thorazine and trilafon.
If you take any of these medications, you shouldn't use evening primrose.
Reply:I believe so, better stay away jsut to be safe. Try something else to help with your eczema

What is glycerine that is found in ' evening primrose oil ? appericaite any help !?
Up until 1889, people didn't know how to recover glycerine from the soapmaking process, so commercially produced glycerin mostly came from the candlemaking industry ( back then candles were made from animal fats).
Reply:Glycerine can be made from animal, plant or synthetic means.
Reply:No. But it can be obtained from animal fats and is one of the ingredients in making soap.

Will consumption of folic acid and evening primrose oil increase your chance to get pregnant?
I have been trying to conceive for 3 yrs. I have also been to fertility centre with 2 failed IUI cycles. One of my friend suggested me to consistantly taking EPO and FA as well as drink anmum (for maternal powder milk) if I want to get pregnant naturally. I am a bit skeptical after all I have been through (like taking clomid 4 times and laparoscopy operation, 2 IUI, acupunture and herbalist with no succes story). Anyone with succes story with those pills? Or any other suggestion for me to get pregnant naturally?

I did about 4-5 clomid cycles and about 4 cycles of ovulation induction (similar to IUI but with intercourse no injection of the sperm)
none of it worked for me either but then i just fell pregnant naturally - i am now 12 weeks
i was not doing anything differently - i had always been taking folic acid. i think relax and do not think about it - we went on an interstate trip and partied hard the weekend i believe i conceived - it was a fabulous weekend away with 2 other couples and it will stay with me forever now..........
good luck - you will get there
Reply:i have heard that it is advisable to take folic acid 3 months before ttc because it reduces defects in the baby.but i have never heard that it might actually help in conceiving.
Reply:Folic acid only helps prevent the chances of the baby having a hole in it's spine. I don't know about the combo or the other.
Reply:its supportive
u need to go to a obstretician
Reply:take folic acid when trying to conceive and having sex when you are having a period is another good time to get pregnant good luck

What are the characteristics of a primrose plant?
it is plant used by Hugo De Vries in his experiment on his Mutation theory...please i need it now...
What are the characteristics of a primrose plant?
Primula vulgaris is a species of Primula native to western and southern Europe, including the British Isles. The common name is Primrose, Common Primrose or English Primrose. It is one of the earliest spring flowers, and in appropriate conditions, it can cover the ground in open woods. In more populated areas it has suffered from over-collection and theft so that few natural displays of primroses in abundance can be found. Picking of primroses or the removal of primrose plants from the wild without the permission of the owner of the land on which they are growing is now illegal in the UK (Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, Section 13, part 1b)
Thrum flower of PrimrosePrimroses are perennial, low growing herbs with actinomorphic flowers and a superior ovary which later forms a capsule which opens by valves to release the small black seeds. The plants are monoecious but heterostylous - plants are either pin (with the capita of the style prominent) or thrum (with the stamens prominent). Fertilisation can only take place between pin and thrum plants. Pin to pin and thrum to thrum pollination is ineffective.
Primula vulgaris is generally distinguished from other UK native primulas by its yellow flowers produced singly on long flower stalks which are covered in rather shaggy hairs.
Pin flower of PrimroseThe flowers are 25-40 mm across are flat rather than concave as in the case of Primula veris, the Cowslip. A pink-flowered Primrose occurs naturally in some woods in Wales. Elsewhere, pink varieties are escapes from garden cultivars; these and other garden hybrids are available in numerous other colour

What is the closest London airport to Primrose Hill/Swiss Cottage in London?
i am trying to decide which airport to book a flight ot but it depends on the time it takes to get to the airport. Does anyone know whether stansted, luton or gatwick is closer to Primrose Hill in london?
What is the closest London airport to Primrose Hill/Swiss Cottage in London?
Heathtrow is the closest airport to central london (and connected to by tube). But among your options, Stansted is more convenient for north London, where Swiss Cottage is. My favorite transportation option is take the bus from Stansted to Golders Green (north London, zone 3). Then, take the Tube (northern line) to Chalk Farm, close to Primrose Hill. Hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me where I can purchase Evening Primrose Soap?
Boots and Superdrug do their own evening primrose soap. If you want a natural one then a health shop would be the best place.
Can anyone tell me where I can purchase Evening Primrose Soap?
I'm guessing on what kind of soap that is, but I would have to say a lingerie shop

How long do primrose plants last when kept indoors?
While I agree that they are really outdoors plants, to answer your question, they can actually last for years. I have two that are 4-5 years old and still bloom every spring.
How long do primrose plants last when kept indoors?
My mother-in-law had hers for 11 years that I know of. They were planted in the ground, not in pots.
Reply:They are not indoor plants. Put the primrose outside in a large pot on your balcony or in your yard.

I am looking to enroll my child at Primrose School. Is it expensive?
I really don't want to have to pay an arm and a leg for a quality Pre-K curriculum for my child. Is it more than 135$ a week?
I am looking to enroll my child at Primrose School. Is it expensive?
If you know where you want to enroll your child, why don't you just call or email the school directly to find out the tuition?
Reply:We enrolled our 16 month child with in Primorose here in Orlando. They are expensive. Our tuition will be $210/week. We looked at 5-6 other schools and honestly you get what you pay for. Report It

Does primrose oil really induce labor or start dialation?
Nope all that crap does is give you a belly ache. Try sex or nipple stimulation or walking.

Can I take Omega 3's and Evening Primrose at the same time?
I am taking them according to the directions on the bottle. Is there an amount that might be too much? I have been taking Omega 3's for some time, but started to take the Evening Primrose to relieve menopause/perimenopause symptoms.
Can I take Omega 3's and Evening Primrose at the same time?
Yes, most definitely. If you look at Udo's Oil Blend at the health food store, you will see it mixes Omega 3 flax oil with evening primrose oil (which is an Omega 6). Udo recommends taking two times ad much Omega 3s as Omega 6s. Most of us, however, get way too much Omega 6s through cooking and salad oils.

Has anyone ever used evening primrose oil to thin their cervix?
I have done alot of research on this and my MW is all for me using this but she didn't say when I should start taking it orally and I have found a broad time frame from online info and I am not sure when I show start it. If you have taken it orally and vaginally please tell me when. Thanks
Has anyone ever used evening primrose oil to thin their cervix?
If memory serves, I starting taking it orally in the 8th or 9th month.
Reply:Castro Oil my grandma drank 1Cup each time she wanted the pregnancy over with which was only a couple of days before they were due she had three healthy boy's one was born on Valentine's. If you decide to take this make sure someone will be with you because it does work if you are close to your due date.
I agree with isle72
Reply:No. I've never heard of it. I'd be afraid to take it "vaginally" but let me know if it works orally!! I have only 2 weeks to go and I wouldn't mind a head start!
Reply:I don't understand the rush with so many of these new mothers to be. Why not let your baby come when he/she is ready? Be grateful you made it full term...many women do not (I was one).
My son would have been so much better off had he gone full term. He would not have visual issues, learning disabilities, severe adhd and asperger's. I followed all the "rules" (no alcohol, avoiding certain foods, etc) and didn't even do anything to rush his delivery. I had severe complications that caused him to be born 3 months premature almost causing the death of both of us.
Please let your baby come when your baby is ready.

How to stop womens hair loss- I know about primrose oil, rogaine and some herbs that stop DHT?
I know biotin will help it stop falling out and become healthier. I would also recommend checking out Saw Palmetto by jarrow (www.jarrow.com), Excess Estrogen ReducerIndole-3-Carbol (www.pureprescriptions.com), Silica Bio-Sil by jarrow and thymuskin (www.thymuskin.com) have all had great results on clients of mine.
Reply:A friend who was in her forties had her hair start to regrow after it had been very thin for a while. She said it was because she started eating lots of leafy greens every day.
Reply:Massage aloe Vera gel over the scalp, leave it for about one hour. After this rinse the hair with warm water. It gives excellent results for hair loss if one uses this massage at least 3-4 times a week. Check out

If you transplant a Missouri Evening PrimRose in the springtime will it survive?
I think that Missouri primroses are tough. There should be no difficulty transplanting. My experience is that the plant took a long time to get established but then multiplied rapidly. I could pick up a little seedling, push some soil around it, and it would grow.
