How do you remove little Primroses from their little cartons they come in and put them in clay pots?

It's for science fair, and I bought a pack of 28 primroses. The guy at the counter said that sooner or later the roots would squish together at the teeny little cartons that come in. I'm thinking about cutting them, but I'm not sure. Help?

How do you remove little Primroses from their little cartons they come in and put them in clay pots?
1) Make sure the soil around the primrose roots are a little moist.

2) Prepare the clay pots with fresh potting soil.

3) Gently squeeze the bottom of the plastic plant pot/plug to push the primrose out of the cell.

4) If the roots are bound up and growing together you can gently pull them apart or if necessary cut into the mass of root so that fresh roots may grow...try not to cut OFF the root mass, just into it. Don't worry though young plants are often really tough. (Mix in some Bone Meal to the soil if you like...it helps roots).

5) Make a divet in the clay pot soil and put in one plant per 4-6" radius. Push the soil in around the primrose.

6) Water in gently and fertilize with 6-8-6 (all purpose).

7) Enjoy!
